Our Policies

 

CLASS CARD & PAYMENT

  • All Adult Students must pay a $50.00 Registration Fee to participate in the Drop-In classes for the 2020 - 2021 dance season (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Sessions) and $25.00 to participate in the Beginner Adult Ballet class.

  • Additional fees may be charged to participate in the Summer Session classes

  • Class Cards are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Each Class Card is valid up to and including the date printed on the back of the card.

  • Class Cards can be used for any level of Adult classes (except for Beginner Adult Ballet).

  • Class Cards must be validated at the beginning of each class.

  • Payment for Adult Ballet classes can be made with cash or cheque only.



BEGINNER ADULT BALLET FEES

  • Students taking the Beginner Adult Ballet class cannot use Class Cards and must pay by the term and are subject to 2 different fees:

  • Registration Fee

  • Tuition Fees

  • All Fees for the school year must be submitted in full at the time of registration with

  • either one full year payment (1 cheque) OR 3 separate term payments (3 post-dated

  • cheques).

  • An annual non-refundable Registration Fee of $25.00 per student is payable upon

  • registration.

  • If paying for one full year tuition, please date all cheques for the date of registration.

  • If paying 3 separate term payments, please date cheques for:

    • Term 1 and Registration Fee - Date of registration

    • Term 2 - January 1st, 2021

    • Term 3 - March 1st, 2021

    • Please make all cheques payable to Terpsichore Studio for Dance Corp. Please write the student(s) name on each cheque and specify “Term 1 Fee” etc...

  • All fees include 13% HST.

  • Dishonored (NSF) cheques will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee.

DRESS CODE

  • There is no official dress code for students in the Adult program

  • Proper and appropriate dance shoes will be required for all dance classes

  • Hair must be worn up off the face and neck and not be distracting to the student or

  • teacher or inhibit proper movements in the class

  • Excessive, inhibiting or distracting jewelry is not allowed to be worn during class

  • Students must confirm with the teacher of the class that they are taking for the appropriate dress code of the class in question

  • Students must conform to the dress code of each individual class and teacher in order to participate in the class

  • A teacher may deny a student’s participation in class if the student is not properly dressed according to the dress code of their class or if the student’s hair is not properly secured

  • Students attending class without adhering to their teacher’s dress code may be asked to leave or watch the class

Allergies

  • If a student has any allergies, it is imperative to inform the studio and the class teacher.

  • Even though Victoria Square Community Centre and Northern Lights Dance Studio are NOT NUT FREE ENVIRONMENTS, we would appreciate it if all students and family and friends of students refrain from eating or touching nut related products before attending class or any other Terpsichore Studio for Dance functions (ie. year-end performances, rehearsals), to help avoid any unfortunate circumstances.

PRIVACY

  • Terpsichore Studio for Dance reserves the right to the use of any photographic or video images of it’s students for use on the Terpsichore Studio for Dance website, social media pages, in brochures or in other promotional materials. No identifying information about the students or families will ever be included or shared.

  • Terpsichore Studio for Dance does not and will not, for any reason share, rent or sell any personal information about our students.

 



INCLEMENT WEATHER , CANCELLED CLASSES and OTHER EMERGENCIES

  • In the event of inclement weather, it is the responsibility of the student to call the studio and check their emails on class day to determine the status of classes for that day.

  • When possible, if there is a late or last minute class change or cancellation due to

  • inclement weather or other emergencies, it will be indicated on the pre-recorded outgoing message on the Terpsichore Studio for Dance voicemail box.

  • When possible, an email with relevant class and schedule information will be sent out as soon as possible - no phone calls will be made.

  • No refunds or credits will be given for cancelled classes due to inclement weather or

  • emergencies related to the physical location where classes are being held on any given day.

  • If Beginner Adult Ballet classes need to be cancelled due to weather or other emergencies, a make-up class will be scheduled for a future date - if possible.

    • Non-attendance by a student to a rescheduled class due to weather or other

    • emergencies will not be given a credit or refund

    • If a Beginner Adult Ballet class is cancelled due to weather and a make-up class

    • cannot be rescheduled, a credit for 50% of the value of the cancelled class will be added to your account

  • If Drop-In classes need to be cancelled due to weather or other emergencies, an email or text message will be sent out with information on the status of the class.

  • It is the responsibility of students in Drop-In classes to check the status of the class on the day of the class in question.

  • Students of Drop-In classes can occasionally take an alternate level class to make up for missed or cancelled classes. This class can only be attended if recommended to do so by the teacher.

  • No refund or credit will be given for cancelled Drop-In classes.

  • No make-up classes will offered if Drop-In classes are cancelled for any reason.

Drop-in class attendance

  • Drop-In classes require a minimum of 4 students in attendance in order for the class to run. If the minimum number of students is not met, the class may be cancelled

    • If a Drop-In class is cancelled due to lack of attendance, no refunds or credits will be given

    • Students of Drop-In classes can occasionally take an alternate level class to make up for missed or cancelled classes. This class can only be attended if recommended to do so by the teacher

  • It is the responsibility of students in Drop-In classes to check the status of the class on the day of the class in question to see if the class is still running

  • Students of Drop-In classes must inform the studio and the teacher of any absences by the student from any class the student participates in in advance, as soon as possible

  • No refunds or credits will be given if a Drop-In student is absent from a class

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • It is suggested that students arrive between 5 to 10 minutes prior to their scheduled class time.

  • For classes at Victoria Square Community Centre, there are no official change rooms. Therefore, students should arrive dressed and prepared for class.

  • For classes at Northern Lights Dance Studio, there are change rooms but, they are often shared with younger students of the school and are not exclusively for adult use.

  • Please do not bring anything of value to class. Terpsichore Studio for Dance cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or forgotten items left on the premises.

  • Please inform the studio of any change in contact information as soon as possible.



STUDIO ETIQUETTE

  • As we are sharing the Victoria Square Community Centre studio space with the community of Victoria Square and the citizens of Markham and Richmond Hill, it would be greatly appreciated if all Terpsichore Studio for Dance students please adhere to the following rules of etiquette :

  • NO GUM CHEWING

  • NO FOOD OR DRINKS (except water) is allowed in class or inside Victoria Square

  • Community Centre

  • NO OUTDOOR SHOES allowed once inside Victoria Square Community Centre. Please

  • come prepared with proper dance shoes or indoor shoes.
