About Us

Philosophy

At Terpsichore, we believe that dance is not simply another form of physical exercise. It is a tradition that is passed down from person to person and is learned and perfected over time. But most importantly, dance is, and has always been, an art form. An art form with endless benefits!

We provide high quality dance instruction emphasizing sound technique and professionalism. This is achieved through hard work, patience and a healthy dose of humour, in a positive and supportive environment, so everyone can learn without feeling self-conscious.

Classes are offered in a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere where everyone is ready to learn and escape from the stresses of their day.

Studio Director

Maytinee Salyajivin (AKA “Ice”) is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada’s full-time Professional Ballet Program. During her seven years at NBS, she studied classical ballet in both the Vagonova style and Cecchetti method, as well as many other dance disciplines and theatre arts such as national and character dance, flamenco and modern.

After graduation and a short hiatus from dancing, the dance world called Maytinee back to the studio - but this time as a teacher!  For more than 20 years, Maytinee has been teaching and coaching ballet to students of all ages and experience levels.  To this day Maytinee continues to augment her training and teaching experience by attending various courses and workshops, with the most recent being the Professional Development Program in NBS’s Teacher Training Program.
